Undikumbukire Project (UP) Zambia is a human rights, nonprofit making organization that supports children, migrants and other vulnerable populations in correctional facilities in Zambia. In the Comprehensive Bilateral Agreement Project to combat human trafficking, our mission is to raise awareness, provide critical resources, and drive systemic change to end trafficking and exploitation. We are seeking a passionate Program Assistant to support our human trafficking project in Eastern and Muchinga Province to help advance our mission.

Position Summary:

The Program Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the coordination and implementation of our human trafficking project. This role involves providing administrative and operational support, assisting with program activities, and ensuring the smooth execution of project tasks. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about addressing human trafficking issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Administrative Support:
    • Assist with the preparation and management of project documentation, including reports, meeting notes, and correspondence.
    • Coordinate and schedule meetings, workshops, and training sessions to be conducted in the project district where the candidate will be based
    • Maintain and update files on the database.
  2. Project Coordination:
    • Support the Senior Legal officer and Outreach officer in the execution and monitoring of project activities and milestones.
    • Track project progress and assist with data collection and analysis.
    • Help prepare and distribute project materials and resources during outreach sessions and awareness raising campaigns.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Liaise with stakeholders, and community organizations involved in the project.
    • Assist in organizing and coordinating outreach events, presentations, and awareness campaigns.
  4. Reporting and Evaluation:
    • Assist in compiling data and preparing reports for funders, partners, and internal stakeholders.
    • Help monitor and evaluate project outcomes and impact.
  5. Communications:
    • Handle all outreach and training materials to the project district and participate in outreach activities
    • Support the development and execution of communication strategies to raise awareness about human trafficking.
  6. Administrative Tasks:
    • Handle periodic project tasks, including managing phone calls, emails, and correspondence related to the project in the district of concern.
    • Assist with budgeting and expense tracking for project-related activities.

Qualifications:

  1. Must currently live in Muchinga and Eastern Province respectively.
  2. Diploma or better in social work, law, public administration or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  3. Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  4. Strong commitment to human trafficking prevention and survivor support.
  5. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  7. Experience in nonprofit organizations or with human trafficking-related work is a plus.
  8. Sensitivity to the needs and experiences of survivors of trafficking.
