ZAMBIA CORRECTIONAL OFFICIALS HAPPY WITH UP ZAMBIA, BUILD IT INTERNATIONAL EFFORTS
Visiting Zambia Correctional officials are happy with the support that 10 juveniles who had been previously in conflict with the law are receiving from UP Zambia and BuildIT International while undergoing work placements in Lusaka.
The officials from the Zambia Correctional Service who included Deputy Commissioner Mayumbelo Namataa conducted an appreciation visit to two sites in Lusaka where 10 trainees are undergoing work placement.
The work placement programme is part of the Rise Again project aimed at supporting juveniles in conflict with the law to successfully re-integrate into society through vocational skills training, counselling and wellness interventions being implemented by UP Zambia and Build IT International with financial support from the European Union.
“I want to thank UP Zambia and BuildIt International for the work they are doing in shaping the lives of these lads. What you have given them are skills that will transform their lives forever,” Deputy Commissioner Mayumbelo said.
Before their release from incarceration juveniles are offered career development support where they acquire knowledge and skills on work ethics, how to develop curriculum vitae and how to behave in an interview. They are also given training on how to a job.
The visiting team also included Assistant Commissioner Mumbuwa Singendaba, Senior Superintendent Kasonde Mulenga and Senior Superintendent Marble Mwanza with a team from UP Zambia and BuildIt International. This project is made possible with financial support from the European Union.
