This Independence Day we are spending time with teens who are in detention.
This Independence Day we are spending time with teens who are in detention. They usually have few or no opportunities for human contact outside of the facility. This is because their families may find it too expensive to visit or because they have no family on the outside. We often have to assume the role of their family as we know they yearn for a human voice, encouragement, and long to reconnect with the world around them. Most of them will eventually be released back into the community but how we relate with them now will often determine whether they will commit offences again and return to prison or not.UP Zambia doesn’t wish for the teens to go back to committing offences so we spend time with them, talk to them and we hear their stories. We also share our stories of hope and change for a better life. With us they have hope and a chance once they are released. You can come with us this Independence Day or simply send a gift for them. Find out how you can help!!!
