To support juveniles in conflict with the law through legal representation, social support and advocacy for a restorative juvenile justice system in Zambia

The vast majority of juveniles in conflict with the law in Zambia cannot afford a lawyer, and legal aid resources are very limited.
Thus, juveniles are often forced to defend themselves alone in court, lacking even a basic understanding of their rights and legal procedure. This can result in overly severe charges, one-sided trials, and weak convictions. On top of this, conditions in Zambian prisons are extremely challenging—and for vulnerable juveniles, even more so.
Summary This project will raise matching funds to build an Eco-friendly ablution block at Katombora Reformatory School in rural Zambia…

Just Mercy

Thank you so much to all of our stakeholders who took the time to join us at the Just Mercy Movie Screening and fundraiser on the 27th of February!

People in attendance not only had the pleasure of watching an awesome movie:  they also got to know more about the work UP Zambia does from our Executive director Sara Larios and also through a special video message from Bryan Stevenson, the man whose work the movie is based on. Those that felt lucky had the option of participating in a raffle and walking away with various prizes.

Thank you to House of Cakes Zambia, The Hussar Grill Zambia. John Dorys Zambia, Taste By Rootz, Latitude 15, Juvenex Spa & Beauty Salon, Twapandula, Go Vino and Precision Farming for sponsoring the raffle prizes. Because of you, we were able to raise K30,000.

We still have some way to go before reach our target for the year. Visit our donate page to see how you can continue to support us.
